Faculty Profile: Dr. Lynn Lease Directs New OCUOnline Plus

Dr. Lynn Lease joined OCU in June 2017 as the Academic Program Director of the new OCUOnline Plus program offering online programs to traditional-aged students.  “I am honored to be part of this new initiative that will enable OCU to reach and minister to even more traditional-aged students,” explains Dr. Lease.

Dr. Lease started her career in higher education in 1993 spending eight and a half years in Student Affairs, in Residence Life. She transitioned to Academic Affairs after a stint in primary schools teaching 7th grade Language Arts.  The last eleven years she has held faculty roles, recently founding a faculty development center dedicated to improving student learning and retention through faculty support services, such as faculty orientations, educational technology trainings, instructional design and teaching workshops, faculty learning communities, and academic curriculum improvement and assessment projects.

What Lynn likes most is creating something brand new, from scratch: “I love the challenge of new initiatives:  brainstorming new ideas, discovering and building pieces of a puzzle, identifying and including partners and stakeholders, putting the pieces together, and bringing something new to life. Although the work is stressful at times, the challenge keeps things interesting!”

Dr. Lease holds a PhD in Education with specialization in instructional design for online learning, an MA in College Student Personnel Administration, a BS in Journalism and Public Relations, and an Ohio Professional Teaching License Grades 1-8 with a Reading Endorsement. She resides in Findlay, Ohio with husband Jeff and children Savannah and Herschel. Lynn is a member of Findlay First Church of the Nazarene and serves on the Discipleship Ministries Team reviewing church curriculum and on the PowerPlant Leadership Team involving young teens in serving opportunities.
