OCU Assoc. Professor Terrence Gattis

Faculty Profile: Professor Gattis Receives Gospel Choice Award

OCU Morrow Professor Terrance J. Gattis received The Chosen Award at the 2017 Gospel Choice Awards Show at Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta. The Gospel Choice Awards honor influential pastors and faith-based leaders who have a daily impact in their communities.

Reverend Dr. Terrance Jerome Gattis, a native of Jersey City, New Jersey, holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Livingstone College, a Master of Divinity from the Emory University Candler School of Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.

Gattis is Associate Professor of Religion at Ohio Christian University.  He is on the national Board of Directors for Forever Family Inc., a non-profit organization that serves and supports children and families of the incarcerated.  Previously, he was on the Board of Directors for Haven House, a non-profit organization working to end family violence.  Gattis is also on the Board of Directors for the Henry County Department of Family and Children Services, and recently appointed Chaplain for the City of Stockbridge.

In December, 2009, Dr. Gattis was called as the 16th Pastor of the historic Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Stockbridge, GA.  During his pastorate, he has watched God bless the congregation to grow and prosper in many areas–from the completion of the church’s new Worship Center in November 2012, to the completion of the new Mt. Olive Community Outreach Center in April, 2014, and to the creation of new ministries and community outreach initiatives.  Above all, Gattis is a humble servant of God who loves the Lord, loves to serve God’s people, and loves to proclaim the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
