CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ohio Christian took on Tiffin University on Monday night, losing by five in tightly contested game. The Trailblazers jumped out in front early behind the hot hands of Ben Bailey and Cory Haner. The duo combined for five three pointers in the game and helped OCU take an 8 point lead in the opening minutes.

Tiffin dominated the offensive boards to battle back. Their 9 offensive rebounds in the first half resulted in 10 second chance points. OCU went in halftime trailing 38-31.

OCU fought back in the 2nd half behind pressure defense and a balanced offensive attack. Dayyon Huot and Evan Werner provided big sparks for the Blazers and erased the Tiffin lead. Trailing by two in the closing moments, OCU had two good looks to tie the game but was unable to convert. The Blazers were forced to foul and Tiffin closed out the game by hitting free throws.

OCU knocked down 10 of 22 from three point range in the game compared to just 2 of 6 for Tiffin. Tiffin owned the offensive glass 13-6. The Blazers placed four in double figures as Cory Haner tossed in a team high 12 points. Aaron Curtis and Ben Bailey added 11 points each. Dayyon Huot tallied 10 points for Ohio Christian. Evan Werner added 7 points and Jared Smith dished out 5 assists.




CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Reserves battled with the Titans varsity squad from OSU Newark on Tuesday night. The Blazers took an early 8-2 lead behind 8 straight points to open the game from Andre Dawson. Newark rallied back to take a 41-32 lead at halftime.

Newark would go on to lead by as many as 16 in the 2nd half. The Blazers fought back behind the sharpshooting accuracry of freshman Danny Schrock who netted 15 second half points. The Blazers got to within 6 points but Newark closed out the game at the free throw line, shooting a blistering 20 of 22 from the charity stripe to push the lead to 11 points at the final buzzer with the score 93-82.

Danny Schrock tossed in a team high 22 points in the contest while shooting 4 of 6 from 3-pt range. Aaron Curtis tossed in 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Jared Smith was strong at the point guard spot with 11 points and 10 assists.




SPRINGFIELD, OH - The OCU men's JV squad picked up a big win on the road, defeating Clark State 69-65 to move to 1-2 on the season. The Blazers went into halftime facing a small deficit but rallied ahead in the final minutes.

The reserves got a big boost from freshmen Danny Schrock and Evan Werner. Werner tossed in 15 points and had 8 blocked shots. Schrock went for 15 points and hit a big three pointer to put the Blazers out in front with about a minute remaining in the game.

OCU hit free throws in the closing moments to seal the 4 point win. The Blazers reserves are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on the varsity team from OSU Newark.




CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Reserves came up short to the reserve squad from NCAA affiliate, Cedarville University, on Monday night. The Blazers gave the visiting Yellow Jackets all they could handle for 40 minutes. OCU was led in the first half by freshman guard Kollin Thomas who went 4 of 5 from downtown in the first 20 minutes on his way to a team high 15 points. The Blazers went into halftime with a 37-34 lead.

Cedarville rallied back in the 2nd half to take the lead. OCU rallied to tie the game in the final minutes. Cedarville converted on a 2 point basket to take a 68-66 lead in the closing moments and that would prove to be the final points of the game.

Thomas led OCU with 15 points. Aaron Curtis tossed in 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Dayyon Huot hit double figures with 10 points. Andre Dawson tallied 9 points and Ben Bailey added 7 for OCU.

The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on the varsity team from Clark State at 7:30 PM in Springfield, Ohio.




MT. VERNON, OH - The OCU JV sqaud took on the JV team from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University this week in their season opener. OCU opened up the game strong and took a quick 9-3 lead to start. The Blazers battled tight with the host Cougars for the first 8 minutes before Mt. Vernon pulled away before the half to take a double digit lead.

OCU used a press in the 2nd half to make a brief run and comeback but it wasn't enough as Mt. Vernon closed out the game for the win. Aaron Curtis led OCU with a team high 15 points. Freshman guard Cory Haner tossed in 13 points for the JV Blazers.
